How PS Premium Could Evolve

As we know, Sony has recently raised its subscription services with the top tier being the most expensive offering. The question then is how does Sony bring value to it in line with the expectations of fans? We already know Microsoft’s ambitions so where does this fit into all of that?

PlayStation Plus is a fantastic service. No doubt about it. It’s an incredible offering on its own. But what if Premium as a service was to get even more in the future? When I say that, I mean obviously have Xbox first-party titles dropped into the Premium tier. This in line would do exactly what Microsoft wants with getting more engagement. At the same time, it would get PlayStation the Bethesda games back and give players everywhere an option of where they play. It’s a win-win for everybody.

I think the reason why it might happen this way, in terms of being integrated onto PlayStation Plus would be because it’s then part of Sony’s own offering. Sony isn’t going to want to be an advertising platform for Game Pass. But at the same time, we all know how hard Jim Ryan fought when it comes to Bethesda games and Activision.

I guess the question we all have now is how do Sony and Microsoft make it work and how does it come full circle? PlayStation Plus Premium, Sony’s highest tier could absolutely be the key to everything here. The value would be incredible. Elder Scrolls 6 and Call of Duty all a part of Premium? The consumers win here, or should I say PlayStation fans win.

Of course, a lot of Xbox fans will not be too bothered by this because they’ll understand that for Microsoft it’s about the levels of engagement. It’s about bringing PlayStation and Nintendo in-line as part of the Xbox community. On every level, this achieves the absolute goal of offerings on basically every level imaginable. It does so in a way where it works for everyone and it puts to bed the pointless fanboy rhetoric.

I think for Microsoft and Sony, it’s this working together that will see the focus being actually on the games again. Celebrating art in all its glory and doing it in a way that benefits every platform. That has to be the goal of the future.

Sony also has to improve themselves on the back of all this. Giving PlayStation fans also the classics they want from their own extensive back library of games in the past. However, when it comes to making the right decisions for everyone who just loves video games. This would be one of them. Because everyone wins.
