Read MoreFor the vast majority of us. PlayStation in essence is the go to platform. If they produce the software and do the right things. We’ve seen in the past how they can absolutely take advantage of that. The PS6 is no secret now. If anything, plans are already in motion to bring back some fan favourites.
Across the gaming industry. Price rises galore. That’s the reality of the situation. It’s been warned and now it’s happening no matter what country you happen to be in. Are we being priced out of our hobby? Are the games too expensive and are the consoles too? A few years ago most Sony fans would be the ones who would cry foul if you didn’t buy your games. It was this sort of an entitlement to be able to say you purchased games. Read More
We all know there is a lot of disgruntlement about Nintendo’s reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s also fair to say, some of those people do have a point. The hardware is priced well, the games are a little on the high side. The hardware itself hasn’t been more powerful than it ever has been for a Nintendo console right now (that’s reason to celebrate). We can talk about the game prices, however, if Nintendo can expand on the game series fans have come to love and provide even bigger and immersive experiences from that hardware it could count for something.
If anyone was in doubt just how much of an effect Trump administrations tariffs were going to have subsequently all over the world. Nintendo and the American consumer pre-orders of the Nintendo Switch 2 are going to make you horrifyingly shudder. For anyone around the world that’s being gleeful and easy that they’ve gotten their pre-order in. That’s just not how universally the world works and we shouldn’t ever take pleasure in that. Sooner or later everyone around the world is going to be affected in some way. If not right now, then in the future by extension. Read More
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been revealed, and what took centre stage, Mario Kart, was a big part of its introduction. Make no mistake about it. The hardware itself is reasonably priced in line with inflation. Nintendo, however, has decided to raise the costs of games themselves. Where Sony sees themselves as a premium hardware company. Nintendo is looking at its own premium quality and making consumers pay in the ways of its software. Read More
Remember the days when you could win a generation based on being able to share a video game with someone? Good times, right? The way that all played out to bury the Xbox One when Jack Tretton said after the announcement, ‘I guess that’s a good thing to a PlayStation crowd’. Phil Spencer said that the generation they lost was the biggest generation you could lose. The reason was because of the digital libraries that people had accumulated over time. Read More
Sony’s stance around PlayStation games being a closed ecosystem might have to change. Even if really they’d like to keep you tied down to their platform. The way I look at it, Microsoft is having a huge amount of success for some of its titles via the PlayStation Store. They’re charting as top sellers. Nobody would have said this would’ve happened if you believed the random person saying that Microsoft hasn’t got the games a few years back.
How could Xbox and PlayStation choose to compete against each other in the next generation? Despite the online discussions, the console wars are over. I want to say that they are for Microsoft. Why? Because Xbox will be utilising PC-console hybrid across the board a lot more next generation, as the gaming media have been rightly suggesting. However, there are plenty of things not being discussed about how they’re going to actually make those generations count for each other on a business basis. I want to get into that a lot more today. A lot of people are of the opinion that Game Pass is not good for gaming. However, I am of a differing opinion because what is clear to me is that the lack of innovation in games is more of a threat. You could also say that the spiraling out of control cost of developing games is also one. It’s a turning point in an industry that is having to think more and more about where it’s heading and how it makes games. Read More

There has been a lack of quality coming out of Bioware. After the failure of the recent new Dragons Age. The fact it had an identity issue and didn’t resonate with the majority of it’s core fandom. It’s back to the drawing board for Bioware, and I personally believe that EA going forward is going to be playing it safe with the majority of its franchises. Read More
Manchester United are not where we want them to be as a fanbase. Yet some are treating it like we have a divine right to be successful. We want success so badly, and we’ve been starved so long that we’re forgetting where we are and that it’s going to be a sprint, not a marathon, with the resources we actually have due to the absolute appalling way the Glazers have mishandled and treated us like a business with no regard to the traditions and standards that were set prior to them.
