It’s pretty much written in stone that Sony has new hardware coming out. They’ll likely showcase that at TGS. But who is it aimed at? Well, I think what Sony are going to double down on is framerates and all the peculiar things that the new generation of gamers are pretty sensitive with. Sony are going to set the scene of ‘this is the PS5 Pro and we want you with us’ that will be whether your on Xbox or PC.
I think that’s clearly what they’re going to sell the idea to everyone on. Sony have already been feeding the PC crowd breadcrumbs in terms of exclusives that have headed there. It’s all about shifting the trend and getting people to play within Sony’s eco-system. As I’ve said, the year 2025 is going to be a big year. Not only for the games, but how they’re likely to sell us on all of this. I’ve said before, no matter what games are going to be key and how they perform.
But if anyone is competent in the hardware scene, it’s Sony, and I actually believe what they will offer in terms of the PS5 Pro will be significant for the audience they’re appealing to. Not many people will want to not go for it when a new GTA is coming out. But beyond that, it’s clear that things are going to be heating up in regards to the content. It’s no good bringing out new hardware if you don’t have the games to sell us on. I believe we will see a clearer picture of what Sony set out within the next few months.
Let’s also not forget the existing games Sony have in the pipeline and how a PS5 Pro existing makes it a relevant case of appeal to many. Even if, they’ve been disappointed with this generation per say.
And just like Sam Porter Bridges from Death Stranding, I expect them to deliver.
