PlayStation Has An Atreus Problem

There is no doubt whatsoever that God of War: Ragnorok was a great videogame. Everything about it improved on the original vision. The major problem which I think you will find many PlayStations fans agreeing with is that based on their playthrough of the sequel Atreus has become a bit of an annoying problem.

I think when you factor in that this is the character that is going to push the God of War franchise going forward. Unless a major transformation happens with Atreus that makes the game-play much more satisfying then any proposed future DLC that has the potential to focus on that character would be cause for some concern.

However, the caveat to that is that with every character there is a potential for growth. That growth is going to have to dramatically transform Atreus. To the point, he becomes unrecognizable going forward. Otherwise, any proposed follow-up might be hindered by the fact that PlayStation fans won’t be too fussed about it.

Kratos has been a mainstay in PlayStation over the years. He’s also a character that is very difficult to replace. That is a conundrum of its own. How does the torch get handed over with this one? God of War is probably one of PlayStation’s much-loved franchises. It’s an old-school series. It’s crazy to think it’s one where the future of the franchise is not so clear.

Proposed DLC much rumoured to expand on that on PlayStation 5 is going to have a lot of keen eyes on it. With even more potential scrutiny at its door if Santa Monica doesn’t get it right. Obviously, I have faith they will. But it’s going to be interesting what the future entails for this particular game series and solving that unique problem.
